KLINSMANN SUPPORTS REFEREE ON CONTROVERSIAL PENALTY

Tottenham Hotspur legend Jurgen Klinsmann has sided with Premier League referee Michael Oliver after he awarded a penalty against his former club during the North London Derby in the league. The decision to award Arsenal a penalty at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur was a crucial one as the goal scored from the resulting penalty turned out to be the winner in the derby. JurgenKlinsmann is a former manager for both the United States and German national teams and the former German national team striker was on ESPN to talk about the North London Derby played on Sunday evening. According to JurgenKlinsmann, Michael Oliver was right to award a second half penalty for hosts Arsenal after central striker Alexandre Lacazette was adjudged to have been brought down in the Tottenham Hotspur box by Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez. Spurs players protested the decision to award Arsenal that penalty but Michael Oliver stuck to his decision. Frenchman Lacazette scored the penalty awarded by the referee as he sent Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris the wrong way to give the Gunners the lead.
